Supporting First Generation Students Through the Madison College Foundation
Half of all Madison College students are among the first in their family to attend college. In 2020, Madison College gained national recognition as a First-Generation Forward institution. RISE is a supportive learning community dedicated to student success.
RISE Mission: To focus targeted, proactive interventions towards high-promise student populations across Madison College. We strive to increase access, persistence/retention, and completion/transfer rates among underserved populations, building relationships through a holistic, strength-based approach to student achievement.
RISE supports high-promise students: Students of color, first-generation students, income-eligible students, military-affiliated students, ELL students, student parents and students with disabilities.
RISE provides: Academic advising, success coaching, peer mentoring, tutoring and many ways to engage with RISE students through workshops, events, and celebrations.
RISE offers the following annual scholarships:
- “I’m First” – recognition of first-generation student
- TRIO Completion and Transfer
- Veteran Student Success – recognition of a student veteran
